The Seasonal "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" Friday Afternoon Quote

Groucho and Harpo. William and Leonard. It's not often that Shatner and Nimoy are compared to the Marx Brothers. Wait......perhaps I stated that incorrectly. It's not often that the Marx Brothers are compared to Shatner and Nimoy but the similarities are beyond obvious. There is ample evidence to suggest that "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" is the modern-day equivalent of "Night at the Opera".

At no point is this likeness more apparent than during the uproarious sequence in the cab of Dr. Gillian's truck. Kirk and Spock try desperately not to blow their cover while simultaneously trying to determine the fate of the two humpback whales they so desperately need. All this builds to the following pinnacle of glorious verbal ping-pong.

Kirk: "I have a feeling we'd all be a lot happier discussing this over dinner."
Gillian: "Do you guys like Italian?"
Kirk: "Yes."
Spock: "No."
Kirk: "Yes."
Spock: "No."
Kirk: "I love Italian. And so do you."
Spock: "Yes."

Darling Nick,
A question: do you have to re-watch the Star Trek movie each Friday in order to come up with these quotes, or do you in fact, have this film memorized word for word? Just curious...

Your Adoring Fan,

Becky

While some quotes I remember verbatim - including my two favorite quotes which are still to come - most of them I do not. But that is where the always helpful imdb.com scores an assist for Cinema Romantico in this clearly renowned friday afternoon tradition.
