A Weekend Dreams Are Made Of

True cinemaphiles examining the list of movie openings tomorrow will no doubt agree with me that it's better than seeing all those presents under the tree on Christmas morning. Not to overstate or anything, but this is probably the best weekend of movies I've seen in my entire life. Let me break it down for you..............

First off, we get "Little Children" which is based on the book by Tom Perotta (one of my favorite books) and starring Kate Winslet (my favorite actress).

As if that's not enough we also get "Marie Antoinette", the new feature from writer/director Sofia Coppola. I know it's received a bit of negative buzz but I couldn't care less. I think it looks way, way cool.

But as if that's not enough we also get "Flags of Our Fathers", the new feature from Clint Eastwood which just happens to be his follow-up to an itty-bitty movie you may have heard me mention called "Million Dollar Baby".

But as if that's not enough we ALSO get "The Prestige", which is the new feature from Christopher ("Batman Begins") Nolan. It stars Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as rival magicians.

I mean, can you believe that? That is a formidable lineup. It's the equivalent of my dearly beloved Nebraska Football team's current 4-Headed Running Back Monster. "Little Children" is Marlon Lucky. "Marie Antionette" is Cody Glenn. "Flags of Our Fathers" is Brandon Jackson. "The Prestige" is Kenny Wilson.

I say it that way because as if all these movies aren't enough we ALSO get the Nebraska vs. Texas game on Saturday morning. And Nebraska will, of course, be pulling an upset of the evil Longhorns and that means the celebration will be on the rest of the day. So how I'm going to fit in all these films this weekend is beyond me. A nice problem to have, eh?

Like I said, a weekend dreams are made of.
