I just don't know when I'll be able to carve out the time for its arduous 75-minute length.Derek Armstronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13750747272647975591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17951989.post-19355048054623875072012-11-15T18:40:12.042-06:002012-11-15T18:40:12.042-06:00He's kind of a cold character at the beginning...He's kind of a cold character at the beginning, like a Coen character, but you're right - we never feel at such a distance from him, like there's some sort of joke on high being played.

Norway, man. Where this differs from a Coen movie is this sense of genuine love it has for its characters -- it doesn't have a cynical outlook on them. They frequently do the wrong things and sometimes are just plain evil, but I was surprised by just how much of an emotional punch the main character's arc eventually packed. Simply put, this film filled me with the adrenaline of discovery. And I ...It does take you for an unpredictable ride. And I really like it when movies give us un-sympathetic characters and then try to bring us around. They don't always work, but it's a bold strategy.Nick Priggehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17895803287589438170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17951989.post-16903558752867058262012-11-13T14:37:52.751-06:002012-11-13T14:37:52.751-06:00Fantastic review, Nick! I was intrigued by the story though and the way things unfold definitely makes this one of the best thrillers I've seen in years. It's hard to see anything unpredictable these days. The thing with his wife I really thought it'd go one way but I'm glad it still managed to surprise me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
