Currently, I find myself an afternoon away from a weekend getaway to my friends' cabin (rumored to be the finest cabin located in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and most of Michigan's upper peninsula). It will be a weekend filled with rest, relaxation and the most festive item on anyone's list of festive-related items: beer. Ah, yes. I can almost taste the first drop of glorious lager rolling down my tongue and bringing me relief from yet another rancid 5-day work week.
Cinema Romantico has long been a blog supportive of both quality film and quality brew. Therefore I felt it would be appropriate on a Friday such as this to compare them. What beer is most representative of what films? And vice-versa? I smell an "exercise". Thus, without further adieu.............
Labatt Blue – Last of the Mohicans. The first truly great one I ever experienced.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale – Million Dollar Baby. The second truly great one I ever experienced.
Sleeman Cream Ale – The Myth of Fingerprints. The unknown masterpiece.
Bell’s Oberon – Raiders of the Lost Ark. Exactly what you want in the summer.
Natural Ice – Armageddon. Treacherous, disgusting and will make you vomit repeatedly.
Michelob Ultra – The Matrix. It thinks it's so much more than it is.
Guiness – Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Everyone tells me I’m supposed to like it, but I just don’t.
Tecate – Serendipity. I shouldn’t love it so much but I do. God help me, I do.
Heineken – Wall Street. A complimentary Heineken, Mr. Gekko?
