Last week, as you may recall, I addressed the infamous George Lucas in a rather unflattering manner. However, I'm willing to step up to the plate and admit when someone for whom I don't particulary care does something of immense worth and so today I tip my cap to Mr. Lucas.
One week from today, on May 13th, the "Indiana Jones" movies will be re-released on DVD.....individually!
Woo-hoo & yee-haw! I beat him! I waited him out! See, as a guy who worships at the altar of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and who always thought "The Last Crusade" was pretty good, though certainly not great, and "Temple of Doom" was uneven, though possessing several excellent passages, I've always only ever wanted to own the first one on DVD and not the other two. But in his infinite wisdom Mr. Lucas had only ever deemed it necessary to release all three in one package.
Well, no way was I shelling out for all three, especially when I knew Mr. Lucas would have to get his inevitable re-release freak on at some point with the "Indy" trilogy and now that day has arrived. "Raiders" will takes it rightful place all by its lonesome on the top shelf of my DVD collection. I win, George. I win.
(Note: Keep an eye out for My Great Movie review of "Raiders of the Lost Ark"....coming later this month!)

Meanwhile I've spent several years enjoying all 3 films and the exclusive feature-length documentary covering the productions of the whole franchise. The set even included a convenient DVD of Young Indiana Jones to use as a coaster while I watched the real movies. I'm so happy I didn't wait.
