Kreativ Blogger Awards

I am very happy to advise that Castor from Anomalous Material - Movies saw fit to bestow upon Cinema Romantico what in these here parts is known as a Kreativ Blogger Award. It is truly appreciated. After all, the blogging wilderness is thick and frightening and you never really believe anyone reads your blog and then when it turns out someone does, hey, it's kinda nice. And while I could quote Meryl Streep from last year's SAG Awards and say "Awards mean nothing to me" I would rather be like my homegirl Kate Winslet instead and bask in this for all its worth. ("It's not a shampoo bottle now!")

Apparently the rules of such an award are these:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

7 things you might find interesing about me? Uh.....

1.) Once upon a time I openly renounced Starbucks as pure evil and now I go to Starbucks every day.
2.) Because I don't like to talk about my "real" job in any capacity people assume I must be a secret government operative. Which isn't really true. As far as you know.
3.) I'm a Revolutionary War buff and consider Benedict Arnold to be the Most Fascinating Person Of All Time.
4.) The first movie I ever made was a mockumentary in high school about people who surfed in toilets. Seriously. Also, it was not very good.
5.) I once spoke to Gregory Alan Williams for 5 minutes at the Hoyt Sherman Theater in Des Moines, Iowa about "getting ahead" in the industry and because Williams shared a scene in "Be Cool" with Uma Thurman this means that, basically, I have met Uma Thurman. Or so I like to say.
6.) I am deathly afraid of snakes. If I were Indiana Jones the Nazis would have got the Ark because I never would have gone in that pit.
7.) My favorite Beatles' song is "Act Naturally".

All right. Moving on. Nominating 7 Kreativ Bloggers. I admit that I don't stay on top of many under-the-radar blogs as I should (probably because I waste far too much time checking backstreets.com like its CNN) but those I follow I love very much. I'm nominating five and taking this opportunity to tell my fellow film lovers Rory & Brad that they need to start updating their blogs. And once they do to my satisfaction, I will make it seven nominations. Fair enough?

1. Encore's World of Film & TV. He left a comment on my blog awhile back and so I checked out his blog and have kept up with it ever since. He describes himself thusly: "I'm not really a misanthrope, I'm just not a people person." That's my kinda dude.

2. The Film Experience. In honor of this post.

3. Obscure Movie Thoughts From An Obscure Movie Fan. I like this guy because he wears his passion firmly on his sleeve.

4. The Needle & The Groove. In the immortal words of Billy Crudup's Russell Hammond: "I dig music."

5. I Want Nothing. Yes, Becky's my friend. No, I don't always know exactly what she's talking about on her blog. Our topics are mildly different. But if you too want to "consider how little one needs to be happy" (and don't we all?) then check it out. Also, she has great taste in movies.

Excuse me, but it hasn't even been a year since my last update. It's called "building suspense." It is a stylistic choice.

Ah crap. Now I feel like a complete douche for not reading your blog more regularly or commenting. Ugh. Me=fail. Okay, thanks for the award, it's not an Oscar but...this definitely hits the spot. On the upside, glad you reminded me of your blog I'll be back [he said, in a non menacing way].

And I was convinced I was writing for internet dead space. This is very gratifying, thank you.

Merci beaucoup for the shout out. The commonality in our very different blogs is our mutual love of movies, and great writing, right?

You'll be proud to know that I've just watched not one but TWO Fellini movies.

Now when are you coming to HI?
