Revisiting (Again) Actors Most In Need of New Agents

Well, everyone, it's that time of year again! In what has turned into an annual tradition Cinema Romantico will be checking on the five actors/actresses we advised two years ago were the most in need of a new agent. One is looking great, two are looking good, one is pretty much where he was when we started this thing, and one is a hopeless cause.

Cuba Gooding Jr. Yes, he was good in a bit part in "American Gangster" and a couple of his upcoming films have at least a semi-promising synopsis but, seriously, all that is counteracted by his roles in "Norbit" and "Daddy Day Camp".

Verdict: Shoulda' hawked that Oscar when you had the chance, Cuba.

Mark Ruffalo. He was fantastic in "Zodiac" and way better than the material in "Reservation Road" and his IMDB.com profile has some good stuff upcoming, including the new film from "Brick's" Rian Johnson.

Verdict: Excellent work by Mr. Ruffalo's agent. Way to turn things around. Sooooo glad to see this marvelous actor getting away from the romantic comedy genre.

Kate Beckinsale. "Winged Creatures" sounds like it could be interesting and, honestly, I'm even kind of intrigued by "Whiteout". "Nothing But the Truth"....eh, not so much. But, of course, the real barometer was Kate's fantastic turn in March's "Snow Angels". That's what this girl can do with an actual role.

Verdict: We're coming around on Kate's agent and if he or she keeps getting her more chances to show her real acting chops, we're all for it.

Kate Hudson. The former Oscar nominee starred in "Fool's Gold" (or was it "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days 2"?) and will also star in "My Best Friend's Girl" opposite Dane Cook in which....oh my God, why even bother? It's over. She's a one hit wonder. In fact, I'm not even keeping tabs on her anymore. Stick a fork in her. She's done.

Elisabeth Shue. In looking at Ms. Shue's IMDB.com profile we noticed she is set to star in "Hamlet 2" which will be released in the next couple of months. The name of the character she's playing? Elisabeth Shue. Yes, she's herself! And apparently playing herself as someone so disillusioned by Hollywood that she's quit acting!

Verdict: Brilliant career move, Ms. Shue! Keep that agent close!
