Only one man has ever made immortal a Woody Allen line that wasn't really a Woody Allen line. He stars in the new Woody Allen movie that opens today (though it doesn't open in Chicago until next week - blimey! Thank God "Year One" is opening here today. I mean, heavens to betsy, what I would do without that one?).
In any event, noted film scholar Mark Harris wrote this article about the two men joining forces in New York Magazine. I greatly enjoyed it. Read it at your leisure.

Manhola Dargis just gave "Year One" a NYT critic's recommendation. Sadly I now have a small desire to see the film.
Dana Stevens liked it, too! And she hated "Whatever Works". Although - perhaps stupidly - I'll still be seeing "Whatever Works" and not "Year One". That's me.
By the way, I also want to include this quote from Ms. Stevens' review: "Cera's critics complain that he always plays the same role, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: We need Michael Cera to keep being Michael Cera. Nobody else knows how."
